Loden is a very precious cloth typical for the Tyrolean area. Since Franz Joseph I of Austria had first introduced it at the Court of Vienna, aristocrats all over Europe chose Loden for their winter clothes. Originally, Loden was worn by the mountain farmers to protect them against the cold temperatures in winter. It is a very resistant material and its production is a long process, which can be learned at the Loden World Vandoies, particularly interesting for families.
Sheep in a museum? Yes, but the real animals of course stay outside, while in the inside of the museum only the raw material, the wool, is real. Visitors are shown the milling, the wool combing works and the spinning. At the same time, children may even take part in all these activities. This interactive museum is a very special adventure, both for adults and children!
