In 2006 the "Lugger Stadl" in the centre of Obertilliach in East Tyrol was transformed into a unique museum showcasing several objects from everyday life of former times, as well as a rich collection of ancient carriages and sledges telling about life in the valley in the past.
In the museum dedicated to ancient traditions and carriages (Heimat- und Kutschenmuseum) of Obertilliach you can admire sickles used to cut grass and old baskets in which farmers used to carry the just mown and dry grass. The carriage collection fascinates visitors with bridal and funeral carriages and different types of arrangements. Despite being small, the museum is every bit as beautiful as bigger museums.
