Lake Anterselva, located at the head of the homonymous valley, is the third largest mountain lake of South Tyrol. This pearl in the Alps is surrounded by deep-green forests and stretches at the foot of the impressive Vedrette di Ries. Located at 1,642 m, the lake boasts a maximum depth of 38 m, comprising 44 hectares. Close to the lake, there is the biathlon centre of Anterselva, which is known beyond borders. Also a famous mountain pass, the Passo Stalle, is located only a stone's throw from the lake.
Lake Anterselva is a popular excursion destination, above all in summer months. There is also an educational trail, stretching round the lake and taking visitors into the world of stones, trees and animals. Schedule about one and a half hours for this trail, and possibly a little more so that you also have time to seek up the information that is provided along the trail. Absolutely a magic place.
