At 2,162 m a.s.l., a natural treasure is located in the Klausberg hiking area, nestled in the majestic alpine world of the Durreck Group and the Zillertal Alps. Gorgeous panoramic views on the surrounding peaks are possible here, gigantic mountains like the Monte Lovello and the Sasso Nero seem to grow up behind the Lake Chiusetta (Klaussee, in German).
The hike to the lake starts in Cadipietra in the Valle Aurina. By cable car you reach the mountain station where the path starts. It proceeds past several mountain huts which are well-suited for a short break. After about 1.5 hours walk you reach Lake Chiusetta at 2,162 m (marker no. 33).
If you want to use public transport, there is a bus connection from Cadipietra to Brunico, the closest town and main place of the Val Pusteria. Brunico itself is accessible by bus and train.
