Lake Neves represents the upper head of the Valle dei Molini at Lapago. At Lapago di Sopra, a narrow and steep mountain road starts (up to 22%), stretching to Lake Neves. In winter this road is closed for traffic, usually it is opens in May. Lake Neves is located at 1,860 m a.s.l. and is surrounded by a dam wall, which can be walked from May to October. The lake can by the way be surrounded by a walking trail.
Most often, Lake Neves is not the actual destination, but it is merely the starting point for tours in the mountains and ski touring in the heart of the Zillertal Alps. The deep green lake is surrounded by three of the most famous mountain peaks of this mountain range: Punta Bianca, Gran Mesulè and Cima di Campo. Particularly popular is the hike to the Ponte di Ghiaccio mountain hut.
