The Cima Palombino (Porze in German) is one of the summits of the Carnic Main Crest. The 2,589 m high mountain between East Tyrol and the Italian Province of Belluno looks back on an eventful history. Also here numerous remains of military structures from the mountain warfare between 1915 – 1918 still can be found.
The Cima Palombino and the Rif. Porzehütte mountain hut are popular hiking destinations in summer. At Lake Klapfsee (accessible from Obertilliach and the Tilliacher Tal valley) the hiking path to the Porzehütte hut (1,942 m a.s.l.) starts. The mountain hut can be reached within one hour and is open during summer.
On the east and west side of the mountain, a via ferrata which takes you up to the peak in about 2.5 hours. On the top an unforgettable view on the Grossglockner, Grossvenediger, the Sesto Dolomites and across the Carnic Alps awaits you.
