In the Val Badia valley, near La Valle (Wengen), the Sasso delle Dieci mountain (Zehner in German and Sas dles Diesc in Ladin) is located. The 3,026 m high peak together with the Sasso delle Nove (Neuner) served to determine the time with the position of the sun. Today the mountain is part of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park.
The mountain hike up to the Sasso delle Dieci starts in the Val Badia valley, at the Santa Croce middle station, accessible by chair lift. There the four-hour-long tour to the summit starts. The ridge itself is recommended only to experienced alpinists.
The Sasso delle Dieci offers a fantastic view on the Croda Rossa d’Ampezzo, Marmolada as highest mountain of the Dolomites, Monte Cristallo, Sasso Putia, Sella Group and Puez Group. In winter, a technically difficult ski tour brings you up to the mighty peak.
