You are cycling through the Val Pusteria and all of a sudden the weather turns bad, or you're just tired? Or you have planned a cycling tour in the Upper Val Pusteria and don't want to use your car? This is all no problem with the Val Pusteria Train, called Flirt. The trains run every 30 minutes between Fortezza and Brunico and every hour between Brunico and the Upper Pusteria valley. New user-friendly stations make it easier to get on and off the trains, also with bicycles. Moreover, most trains have bicycle storage places (limited places).
A one-day bike & train ticket costs 7.00 Euros (additional to the personal train ticket) and can be bought at the desks or ticket machines at the railway stations. The railway line Lienz - San Candido, during summer has a special ticket called Person & Bike that you can buy at the railway station of Lienz. Bike & Train is a very attractive and recommendable combination!
Please note: in high summer, due to overcrowding, the bike transport could be temporarily limited or suspended. However, at the weekends in August additional trains of the Val Pusteria Train are available between Brunico and San Candido.
Also the special ticket bikemobil Card is available, combining the use of the public transport in South Tyrol with the rental of a bicycle!
