The Pustertaler Höhenstrasse (Val Pusteria Scenic Road) is a panoramic path at the sunny slope above the Drava valley in East Tyrol and invites to a cycle tour through meadows, woods and nice mountain villages. The road starts in Abfaltersbach, east of Sillian and Strassen, at the valley bottom of the Upper Pusteria valley.
It proceeds uphill to Asch and Anras, then it leads us to the St Justina Church near Assling and to the village of Bannberg (1,262 m a.s.l.). Until Leisach near Lienz there are 32 km to manage, about 1,100 m in altitude uphill and about 1,400 m downhill.
The way back to Abfaltersbach can also be done along the Drava Cycle Path or the main road in the valley. For the distance from Abfaltersbach to Leisach you should plan about 2 hours of cycling time, but it is worth to do the ride comfortably so that you can fully enjoy the panorama.
