On the sunny hill of San Sigismondo near Chienes, the Butterfly Path is located - a nice hint for a little walking tour in spring
Image gallery: Butterfly Path of San Sigismondo
At the church of San Sigismondo we follow the road towards east, it proceeds slowly uphill. Bend by bend we walk up the hill and reach farms surrounded by a blooming landscape with meadows. No wonder, that here is the home of various butterflies: chalk-blue, painted lady, tortoiseshell, admiral, cabbage white, brimstone and skipper are attracted by thousands of blossoms.
The route proceeds again uphill for another short part before it leaves the asphalted road. At about 1,200 m a.s.l. it proceeds towards west. Past the Gugge farms now we walk downhill, along a forest path, which leads us to the Schifferegger farm, a mountain inn. From there it takes us another 20 minutes back to San Sigismondo.
