The weather is just great, so we decide to walk to the mountain pastures at the ridge between the Val di Funes and the Val Badia valleys. The hike starts at the parking space in the hamlet of Seres near Longiarù and leads on the path no. 4 past the beautiful old Viles farmsteads towards the Valle dei Molini valley (Val di Morins, in Ladin). It represents one of the main attractions of this area: old mills in various construction styles are located in the natural landscape beneath the 2,875 m high Sass de Putia.
The path proceeds through the forest to the timber line and further on to the mountain pastures at the Passo Poma saddle. The breathtaking view includes the famous Plan de Corones, Mt. Collalto, the Monte Cristallo and the peaks of the Fanes Group. Our hike continues downhill to the Rifugio Genova (Schlüterhütte, 2,306 m a.s.l.), the highest located mountain hut of the Val di Funes valley. From the hut we enjoy the view on the peaks of the Odle Group, Mt. Seceda, the Resciesa highland and the summits of the Odle di Eores.
Finally the path no. 3 snakes its way through an eroded lunar landscape to the Giogo Bronsoi ridge and turns to the right towards the Kreuzjoch ridge, located in the shadow of the majestic Odle Group. At this point the path no. 5 proceeds across beautiful alpine meadows downhill to the Malga Medalges mountain hut and back into the valley to our starting point.
