The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place in Milan and the Dolomites. The eleven biathlon events will be held from 8th to 21st February 2026 in Anterselva (Antholz). The newly modernised Olympic Arena Südtirol Alto Adige is located there.
The biathlon stadium has already hosted six world championships and holds World Cup races annually. Since 1971, Anterselva has been a key international location for biathlon, the sport that combines cross-country skiing and shooting.
For local hero Dorothea Wierer, who grew up in Rasun di Sotto (Niederrasen), the Games in Anterselva will be a home fixture. The biathlete is a two-time overall World Cup winner (2019 and 2020), forms the spearhead of the Italian team alongside Lisa Vittozzi, and will no doubt be hoping for a medal on home turf.
The Anterselva Valley (Antholzertal) and the entire Puster Valley (Pustertal) have always had close ties to sport and boast ample experience in hosting international competitions. Here, sporting ambition meets warm hospitality. Take advantage of the 2026 Games not only to follow the exciting competitions but also to experience the region's many facets. Explore the ski resorts of the Puster Valley, sample South Tyrolean cuisine, and immerse yourself in the Alpine culture.
Anterselva will remain a focal point for winter sports in March 2026 as well: the biathlon competitions of the Winter Paralympics will take place there from 6th to 15th March.
