Versciaco is located in the east of the chief village of San Candido at 1,130 m a.s.l. and comprises Versciaco di Sotto and Versciaco di Sopra, and a total of 330 inhabitants. Consecrated in 1479, its parish church is a masterpiece of the Gothic period in Tyrol and can be visited daily from 9 am to 5 pm. But not only the church, also the hill on which it has been constructed is worth noticing. In fact, it is considered to be one of the most striking of the province of Bolzano.
There are plenty of hiking destinations, from the S. Silvestro chapel to Prato della Drava, from a walk to alpine tours, you will be spoiled for choice. The mountain that rises at Versciaco is the hiking and skiing area Monte Elmo: in summer you can scale it on foot, or take the funicular and walk back down to Versciaco.
In winter, a 4.7 km long ski slopes stretches from the top of Monte Elmo to Versciaco. You prefer winter walking or cross-country skiing? Doesn't matter, there is something for every taste.
