San Giuseppe, also called Moso, is located at the entrance of the charming Val Fiscalina. From Moso you can reach the Tre Cime di Lavaredo on foot
San Giuseppe is located at 1,339 m a.s.l., about 2 km away from the chief village, at the entrance of the romantic Val Fiscalina, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Sesto Dolomites nature park. Dramatic scenes have occurred in this area in WWI, when the Kaiserjaeger fought against the Alpini in this breathtaking Dolomite landscape. The Rio Fiscalina runs through the valley.
At the end of the Val Fiscalina (from June, 11 to October, 8, 2023 daily from 9 am to 4 pm accessible by car only if a valid transit permit is presented - at any time, however, on foot or by bicycle, as well as according to the timetable with bus line 440), there is the Rif. Fondo Valle, which is ideal for a walk, offering also several possibilities to stop. Many walks start in this place, e.g. the one to the Rif. Locatelli. This is where nature, once again, makes us hold our breath: the Tre Cime pinnacles seem to be within one's reach. Once reached this mountain hut, you can continue your tour round this natural monument to the Rif. Pian di Cengia and the Rif. Zsigmondy-Comici.
If you would like to become familiar with Sesto, we highly recommend you a trail named “Sextner Rundweg”, which can be walked in two parts and is also ideal for a walk with kids.
Snow-shoeing, winter walking and ski tours are also particularly popular. And of course you can also go skiing, e.g. on the Monte Elmo and the Croda Rossa in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites skiing region. By the way: what you absolutely have to bring home from your holidays is a photo of the over-dimensional snowman family in the Croda Rossa skiing area. And since you are here, don't miss out the reindeer that live in the skiing and hiking area. Sometimes you can even see them walking on the slopes.
