Particularly recommendable in Rio di Pusteria are a guided tour in the Chiusa di Rio and a tour on the Pusterbike cycle path

Rio di Pusteria is the chief village of the homonymous municipality, is located at 777 m and has got some 1,000 inhabitants. Situated farther in the east of the village, once the Chiusa di Rio fortress used to be a strategic point and toll station. Today this castle-like building can be experienced in guided tours in summer months and is moreover venue for open ait performances.
A tasty coffee on Piazza della Chiesa, in the shadow of the church steeple, and a stroll across the lovely villages and its Mediaeval alleys must be part of your holiday programme in Rio. Also make a jump into the cool waters of the swimming pool, and a walk on the so-called "Stoeckelvaterweg“ path, leading to Spinga. For hikes in higher realms, we recommend the hiking areas Gitschberg and Jochtal, which in winter are particularly popular for family skiing.
Due to the great sports facilities and the altitude, in summer Rio di Pusteria is often venue for sports camps of known Italian soccer clubs.
