Prägraten am Großvenediger at the top of the unspoiled and romantic Virgen valley comprises the hamlets of Hinterbichl, Bichl, St. Andrä, Wallhorn and Bobojach. It lies at the foot of the famous Mount Großvenediger (3.674 m), the highest peak of the Venediger mountain range, home to many plants and animals.
Hiking and mountaineering passionates will enjoy the unique Venediger and Lasörling high alpine trails with its many peaks. To those of you who prefer more comfortable hiking we recommend the water trail at the Umbal waterfalls, the first water trail in Europe, where you can directly experience the power of a glacial stream. Also very interesting is the Islitzer mill, where you can learn how flour is produced.
In winter the Virgen valley enchants with its wonderful snowy landscape and offers plenty of leisure activities, like ice skating at the ice rink in the village and skiing in the Großglockner Resort Kals - Matrei ski region. We particularly recommend you to visit the museum of Oberbichl exhibiting farmers working equipment of the 13th and 14th century.
