Welcome to Untertilliach, a charming mountain village in the beautiful Lesachtal valley near the boarder to Carinzia and Italy, between the village of Obertilliach and the pilgrimage site of Maria Luggau. Untertilliach is known for its many mountain farms, which extend on both sides of the valley, and its beautiful small chapels.
Untertilliach offers calm and relaxing holidays in an unspoiled nature and is at the same time the ideal starting point for beautiful walking and hiking tours in its surroundings. Hiking passionates can climb the Reiterkarspitze (2,422 m) or the Hochspitz (2,581 m), both offering a breathtaking 360 degree view of the beautiful mountain panorama. Very popular are also the Kircher alpine pastures, only 2 hours of hiking away from the village of Untertilliach, where every year in September a religious festival is held.
In winter, Untertilliach attracts mainly cross-country skiers: a beautiful 60 km long cross-country ski run connects the villages of Kartitsch, Obertilliach, Untertilliach with Maria Luggau and St. Lorenzen in Carinzia. Additionally, the neighbouring village of Obertilliach is home to the biggest biathlon and cross-country ski centre of East Tyrol. The unspoiled nature around Untertilliach is also very popular among ski mountaineers. Their main destinations are the Schwalbenkofel (2,159 m) and the Spitzköfele.
