Villa S. Caterina is located in the north of Brunico at the entrance of the Valle di Tures, close to San Giorgio and Teodone. Located at 840 m a.s.l., it is the smallest village that belongs to the municipality and stretches on the northern slope that delimits the valley basin of Brunico. Probably this area has already been settled in prehistoric times.
In 2001 an important archaeological discovery has accidentally been made in the village: near the church a flint blade was discovered and excavated. Also the church of Villa S. Caterina is a particularly ancient building, dated 1360 and dedicated to S. Caterina from Alexandria. A pretty centre and the culture landscape round the village also make it so special.
Villa Santa Caterina is ideal for a walk, there are several trails such as "Durchs Toul" or the path leading to Gais, this is where you can enjoy the sun rays. Moreover it is directly connected to the Valle Aurina cycling trail, while climbers can find a rock face at the so-called Aufhofer Kofel.
