Falzes, chief village of the homonymous municipality, is located at 1,022 m a.s.l. and first appears in documents in 1,050 under the name Phalanza. It is situated on the sunny lower mountain range above the Val Pusteria and was already appreciated in Roman times as sunny gem.
Falzes is by the way also the starting or endpoint of the idyllic but challenging Alta Via di Fundres, which is a tour of more days in the homonymous mountain range, a subgroup of the Zillertal Alps. Generally Falzes provides several possibilities for hikes, such as circular routes, a tour to the Monte Sommo or the Cima Bärental. In winter, however, this area is ideal for enjoying the run-rays in winter walks or snow-shoe tours.
The winter sun can by the way also be enjoyed along the cross-country trails or on the toboggan run at the Lothener Köpfl. The slopes of the Plan de Cornes skiing area are by the way also within easy reach.
Worth seeing is also the S. Cyriak parish church in the centre, the way up is flanked by chestnut trees. Another romantic church is the S. Valentino church a little distance outside the village, a place of contemplation in the countryside.
Castel Sichelburg is a historically important building in Falzes, which is characterised by its spiry construction and its little bays at the facade.
