Issengo is located at 986 m a.s.l. and belongs to the municipality of Falzes. Boasting some 260 inhabitants, it is located at the sunny low mountain range of the Val Pusteria, together with Corti and Falzes. The toponym of the village was first mentioned in 1,100 as “Issingun“. Its parish church dates back to the year 1519 and is dedicated to S. Nicolò. Issengo is also site of Castel Schöneck, the birthplace of the minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein.
The sunny village above the Val Pusteria provides several possibilities regarding leisure time activities. In summer the pond of Issengo casts a spell over its visitors. It is one of the only pond biotopes of South Tyrol and provides refreshment to its visitors. Nearby adventure is in the air, strictly speaking among the tree-tops: not only children love the high rope course Kronaction with its eight courses of various levels of difficulty.
What you also should not miss is a visit to the Pine Oil Distillery with a nearby herb garden called "Bergila". The herbs that are cultivated under strict regulations are the basis for the natural products that are manufactured in the Pine Oil Distillery. What a great souvenir, don't you think?
