Tesido is surrounded by lushly green meadows which are ideal for promenading. Particularly recommendable is the alpine pasture of Tesido
With a number of 1,260 inhabitants, Tesido is located at 1,200 m a.s.l. and stretches on a sun terrace between mountain and valley. The village is surrounded by lushly green meadows which are ideal for extended walks, the Dolomites peaks constantly accompany you while walking. Also several destinations in the Val Pusteria is the impressive head of the Valle di Casies, which can be reached within a short time.
Tesido is rich in culture and precious buildings: the S. George church, the oldest church in the parish, was constructed around 800 as defensive castle and cult site. From the reconstructions of 1450, the half-round apsis and the square layout have been preserved. Further buildings that are worth to be visited are the S. Genuin and Albuin parish church, the Erasmus chapel and the S. Jacobs' chapel, which boast paintings of Simon von Taisten.
"Natural health“ is the motto of the pyramid kneipp round trail "Rudlbach“ in Tesido, which invites you to relax. A walk to the Taistner Vorderalm or a mountain tour to the Monte Lutto or the Roda di Scandole must also be part of your summer holidays. For cycling we recommend you to cycle on the Gsieser Talblickweg, or of course the cycling trail of the Val Pusteria.
In winter the Valle di Casies offers 40 km of cross-country ski slopes or a little ski slope in the village. Otherwise you can choose from 105 km of ski slopes at the Plan de Corones. Also recommendable is tobogganing at the Mudleralm pasture.
