With a number of 300 inhabitants, Vila di Sopra is the largest village belonging to Perca. The centre is located at 1,350 m a.s.l. in the north of the village in the beautiful Val di Vile and stands out due to its church constructed in Gothic architectural style. This sacred building is surrounded by lushly green meadows and steep slopes. The head of the valley of Montevila is represented the the Croda Nera, a 3,105 m high mountain.
Vila di Sopra is ideal for starting one's hike and excursion in the nature park Vedrette di Ries. Starting from Vila di Sopra you can also experience an impressive natural monument, that is to say the earth pillars of Plata. Follow the pyramid trail (Pyramidenweg), a walk of 45 minutes, taking to the natural monument. Please use the designated parking spaces, as there are no parking possibilities at the earth pillars.
For those who are interested in culture and history we recommend a visit to the Lechner chapel, built in 1673, outstanding for its grotesque ornamentals.
