Rasun Anterselva is located in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina natura park and stands out thanks to the Lake Anterselva
The municipality of Rasun Anterselva stretches in a northern side valley of the Val Pusteria, from 926 m a.s.l. to 3,471 m high Collalto, the main peak of the Vedrette di Ries, surrounding the municipality. Rasun Anterselva has got some 2,800 inhabitants and stretches from the entrance of the valley with its localities Nove Case, Rasun di Sotto and Rasun di Sopra via Anterselva di Sotto to Anterselva di Sopra and up to the Passo Stalle.
Almost the entire valley is located in the Vedrette di Ries Aurina nature park and is surrounded by the rough peaks of the Vedrette and its prominent summits Collalto and Collaspro. The fascinating natural landscape and its spicy-freshening climate does not only attract visitors in summertime, but also in winter. One of the main attraction of the cool season is the biathlon centre in Anterselva, which has also been venue for the biathlon world championships. Not for nothing internationally famous biathletes come from these places, that is to say Wilfried Pallhuber and Johann Passler, to mention only some. With mountain bikers, the valley is above all famous due to the famous Giro delle Vedrette di Ries, taking to the Defreggental valley in East Tyrol and back to South Tyrol via the Passo Stalle.
