With the biotope of Rasun and the Rasun Vecchia ruin, Rasun di Sopra provides great excursion destinations

Rasun di Sopra is located at 1,091 m and has got some 570 inhabitants. The village is located only a stone’s throw from the valley entrance and in the close surroundings of the Plan de Corones skiing and hiking area. Worth seeing are the ruin of Rasun on the western side of the valley, as well as the Heufler residence with its stube, presenting one of the most beautiful Renaissance panelling of South Tyrol. Also the Burgfrieder chapel and the S. Andrea church of the 14th century are worth a visit.
One of the most popular recreative zones are the biotope of Rasun, which has been placed under natural protection in 1973. In this moor an meadow landscape, there are ponds with little fish, frogs and toads. By the way, also the only carnivorous plant of South Tyrol can be found in this biotope. You can by the way make a walk across the protected area on a trail, providing information on flora and fanuna as well as several places, ideal for a stop.
