Rasun di Sopra

In Rasun di Sopra you can visit the Rasner Mösner biotope and the ruins of Rasun Nuova

Rasun di Sopra lies at an altitude of 1,091 m a.s.l. and is home to about 570 inhabitants. The village is situated in the immediate proximity of the valley entrance, as well as the Plan de Corones, a popular skiing and hiking area. The castle of Rasun Nuova on the western side of the valley and the residence Ansitz Heufler are only two of the many attractions you should not miss. The Ansitz Heufler includes the noble stube hosting one of the most spectacular Renaissance plank floors of South Tyrol. Also the Burgfrieder chapel and the 14th century St. Andrew church are worth a visit.

One of the most famous recreational areas of the area are the Rasner Mösner biotope, a protected natural area since 1973. This landscape is characterised by moorlands and ponds with fish, frogs and toads.
It is also the natural habitat of the only carnivorous plant of South Tyrol. A hiking path with information boards on the local flora and fauna runs through the protected area. Along this trail you can relax in several places.
