Until 1928 Elle used to be an independent municipality, afterwards it was affiliated to the market town of San Lorenzo. Elle is located at the homonymous mountain slope, delimiting the valley basin of Brunico in the west and providing a great view on the Val Pusteria. The church of Elle was consecrated in 1483 to the Saints Johannes and Paulus, round the church there is a little centre, while the other farms are spread on the slope. At the southern side of the church, there is a Gothic sundial dated 1618.
If you would like to go for a pleasant walk, we recommend you to scale the Cima Lasta or the Croce di Elle, providing a fantastic view, also to the Dolomites. These mountains can by the way be scaled all the year round, by mountain bike, snow shoes and touring skis. Elle also offers a toboggan run, which is an alternative for all the family to the above mentioned activities.
