S. Martino

San Martino is located at 860 m a.s.l., only a stone’s throw from the impressive Castel San Martino

San Martino has got some 560 inhabitants and is located at 860 m a.s.l. It was mentioned for the first time in the 12th century and is today located in the south of the main village of San Lorenzo, in the north east of Castel San Michele.

The church of San Martino dates back to the 12th century and boasts a choir with Gothic vaults constructed in the 16th century. At the foot of a forested hill, there is the Schwarzhorn residence with lovely turrets and a semi-circular arch portal.

Would you like to make a promenade? Close to San Martino, the via crucis of Maria Sares starts, taking you to the famous pilgrimage site. A visit to this church is absolutely worth it.
