Casies has got 2,100 inhabitants and defines a northern side valley of the Val Pusteria. It stretches from Tesido to Colle and the chief village of S. Maddalena and comprises several farms and hamlets. On a length of 22 km, it stretches from 1,191 m to 2,837 m and is surrounded by the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina and Defregger Alps.
Picturesque farms, carpets of flowers and idyllic mountain landscapes make the Valle di Casies a real attraction for those who love tranquillity and relaxation. A well-equipped trail network and numerous mountain huts such as the Malga Kardorfer, Stumpfalm, Houfahitte or Urwaldalm invite you to make pleasant hikes, to make a halt and enjoy bacon with mountain cheese and local dishes. By the way: an absolute must-do is the mountain hut festival „Gsieser Almhüttenfest“, taking place in September.
Granfondo di Casies along the cross-country ski race, skiing at the little ski slope in S. Maddalena, a ski tour on the Monte Alto or tobogganing on the Malga Mudler in Tesido, the Valle di Casies makes your holidays a varied and active experience.
