With a total of 2,800 inhabitants, it does not only comprise Monguelfo and Tesido, but also Novale, Malga di Tesido, Riva di Sotto and Prati. The municipality is, however, a great holiday destination for those who seek relaxation in the heart of nature.
The location of Monguelfo Tesido is really advantageous, as from this place you can easily reach Brunico, the Alta Val Pusteria with the Dolomites, but also the original head of the Valle di Casies. Mountain tours on the Monte Dura or Monte Lutta, walks to the Alpe di Tesido or along the so-called Talblickweg, all this makes your summer holidays lasting. In winter there is a little ski lift, and the slopes of the Plan de Corones are within easy reach. What is also recommendable is tobogganing at the Malga Mudler. Also snow-shoeing is rather popular.
Regarding attrations, Castel Welsperg a Castel Thurn are particularly worthwhile, but there are also several lovely chapels. The painter Simon von Taisten and Paul Troger are among the main personalities of the municipality.
