The market town of Campo di Tures has got some 4,900 inhabitants and comprises an area of 164 sq km with the villages Caminata, Molini di Tures, Riva di Tures, Acereto and Campo Tures, chief village of the municipality. Campo di Tures is located in the valley basin between Molini and Lutago and is over-towered by Castel Tures, which is one of the most mighty castles of the province of South Tyrol. By the way, the lords Herren von Taufers were considered one of the most noble aristocrats of Tyrol.
Campo di Tures is surrounded by the more than 80 mountains of 3000 metres of the valley and provides a wide range of leisure activities. A visit of Castel Taufers/Tures as well as a walk to the Riva waterfalls are by the way an absolute must-do in your holidays. Also highly recommendable is the exhibition in the visitor’s centre of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park in the centre of Campo Tures. By the way, also one of the most famous alpinists comes from this place, that is to say Hans Kammerlander.
Every Tuesday in July and August, there is music and entertainment in the roads of Campo Tures. Culinary delights treat your palate in the frame of the „Tauferer Straßenküche“, one of the main events of Campo Tures.
