Montassilone is located at 1,485 m a.s.l., high above Villa Ottone, and can be reached both by Villa Ottone e Vila di Sopra at Perca. These villages are by the way connected by the mountain bike tour of Montassilone.

However, only about 20 people live in this tranquil place. Hustle and bustle do not exist in this place, but tranquillity and peacefulness. A real eye candy are the pair farmsteads with hip roofs that characterise the village, as well as the S. Chrysant and S. Daria church. Since 1928 Montassilone has belonged to the municipality of Gais.
