The 16 km long Valle di Selva branches off from the Valle Aurina at Molini di Tures and stretches in western direction. Characterising for this mountain valley with almost 1,500 inhabitants is the multitude of mills and mountain streams, rising in the Zillertal Alps and running down across the valley.
Generally speaking, water has an important role to play in the valley. Under the motto "the power of water“, several theme paths have been established, ideal for experiencing nature. These trails take you past the lake of Selva, ancient mills, a moor, the wild-romantic gorge with a waterfall, up to the Lago di Lappago. The easiest path is the trail round the artificial lake of Selva dei Molini, which can be walked the whole year round. The Lago di Lappago lake at the head of the valley, however, is starting point for several mountain tours in the Zillertal Alps.
By the way, in summer 2011 Selva dei Molini has been venue for the German reality TV show „Die Alm“, which made the valley even more famous in the German-speaking area.
