Castel Rodengo is one of the largest fortified castles of its time, strategically situated on a rocky outcrop between Sciaves and Rio di Pusteria. This mighty fortress, built in 1140 AD by Friedrich von Rodank, remained in the family until 1300 AD. Afterwards, the castle was managed by various nobles and royals before transferring ownership to the Counts of Wolkenstein-Rodenegg. The castle complex is open to the public from May to October
